~Don't be afraid to fly

It was my step great-grandfather who gave the gifts that made our imaginations soar ,when we were very young, my brother and I were so happy to receive this 1953 Peter Pan soundtrack along with the book for Christmas.  My mother read the book before we went to bed and play the entire LP album, and we would sit there for hours, listening to the story and singing the songs and playing games and laughing.  Our favorite thing to do was to jump onto eachother's beds when she would leave the room and pretend that we could fly. It would be me as a sassy Tinkerbell and my brother as Peter Pan. I would be the girl with Pixie Dust to make anyone fly, while he would be brave enough to fight a Captain Hook made from pillows.

Seeing that we loved this tale so much, our mother found lime green material with white silhouettes of Wendy, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell and made curtains and bedspreads from it.  I remember watching the moon at night from my bed by the curtain edge, and dreaming that I could fly high up to the moon and stars.  The memories of those days are so dear to me that even today listening to this song, I can imagine myself in Neverland with my brother jumping on the beds while our mother read the Peter Pan Book.

To My Little Brother Gilbert who is not afraid to try new things and embraces adventure,
cling onto your carefree childhood and you will be forever young .   "Let your imagination fly"
                                     Love from your sister ,
                                                                                Christy
